Optimization for Tracking: Doppler-Based Trajectory Reconstruction
Abstract
Communication systems are not dedicated to sensing tasks. Before really using them insensing, there are a number of difficulties that should be addressed. Distance, AoA, andDoppler frequency are usually jointly used in traditional ways of target tracking. In ISACsystems, the distance measurement is limited by communication bandwidth, the AoA accuracyis limited by antenna aperture. In this talk, I shall show that the Doppler frequencies ofcommunication signals might be sufficient to track a moving target, as long as there areadequate directions of observation. Note that it is much easier to obtain an accurate estimation of Doppler frequency than the other two. The justification is conducted in Wi-Fi, LTE and mmWave bands respectively for the tracking of walking person, robot and drone.
Biography
Prof. WANG Rui received the B.S. degree from the University of Science and Technology ofChina in 2004, and the Ph.D. degree in wireless communications from The Hong Kong Universityof Science and Technology in 2008. From 2009 to 2012, he was a Senior Research Engineer withHuawei Technologies, Co., Ltd. Since 2012, he has joined the Southern University of Science and Technology of China as an Associate Professor. His current research interests include the ISAC system designs (with experiment justification), optimization of wireless communication systems(from both algorithm and system implementation perspectives), Wi-Fi standardization and etc. He has authored around 150 papers in IEEE journals and flagship international conferences.
